Free advocacy workshop at Spalding University on Saturday, 6/18/16, from 8a-12:30p worth 3.5 CCUs (students absolutely welcome); it will include some updates about the current legislative happenings in Frankfort as well as nationally.

Title: Making a Difference: Evidence-Based and Everyday Advocacy Solutions for Today’s Occupational Therapy Professional

Description: This 3 ½ hour workshop targets those who are interested in learning how to advocate for their clients, their profession, and for health care reform from the individual- and systems-level approaches. Attendees will be provided with ideas and resources for effective advocacy strategies that front-line clinicians, fieldwork students, academicians, and health care leaders will be able to utilize.

Workshop ObjectivesParticipants will be able to…

·        Define and discuss advocacy and what it means to the participant 

·        Conceptualize health policy processes and implications for advocacy

·        Identify and discuss advocacy strategies at the level of personal and professional ability

·        Locate and utilize resources for advocacy in their communities

 Participants: This workshop is designed for all professionals and students of occupational therapy, as well as professionals of other disciplines. All guests are encouraged to review the following articles in preparation for this workshop:
