C.V.   Kenneth R. Flowers, PT, CHT will present a six hour workshop onElbow Concepts:

  • Biomechanics of “The Unforgiving Joint”
  • Morrey’s list of elbow Nasties: anterior joint capsule, ulnar nerve, posterior soft tissue coverage, critical ROM demands, huge articular cartilage contact area.
  • Common Clinical Conditions: cubital tunnel syndrome, median nerve compression, lateral & medial epicondylitis vs. epicondylosis, functional ROM, flexion contracture management, instabilities, myositis ossificans.
  • Presently, Kenneth Flowers is the President of Current Clinical Concepts, Inc., Editor Emeritus of The Journal of Hand Therapy, and serves as adjunct faculty at the University of California, San Francisco branch.

Mitchell Scheiman, OD, will present a six hour workshop onUnderstanding and Managing Visual Deficits in Children

This one-day course is designed to help occupational therapy practitioners develop a comprehensive understanding of vision and how vision can impact on the therapy process in children. A three-component model of vision will be reviewed stressing the importance of optical, visual efficiency and visual information processing disorders. Treatment options will be discussed at including both compensatory strategies and rehabilitative techniques.

Dr. Mitchell Scheiman is a nationally known optometric educator, lecturer, author and private practitioner. He is the author of “Understanding and Managing Visual Deficits: A Guide for Occupational Therapists. Dr. Scheiman has a long and close relationship with occupational therapists. He works closely with occupational therapists in his practice co-managing patients and has lectured to occupational therapists on numerous occasions.

He has specialized in vision therapy for the past 35 years. Dr. Scheiman is currently Director of Pediatric and Binocular Vision Programs at The Eye Institute and Professor of Optometry at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He has written three books for optometrists covering the topics of binocular vision and vision therapy, pediatric optometry, and learning related vision problems and he has published over 130 articles in the professional literature. He is a Diplomate in Binocular Vision and Perception and a Fellow in the College of Optometrists in Vision Development.
